no zombies ... Y E T

no, i've not had time to knit zombies, but i've had time to cast on even more projects, that i have no business casting on.

i SHOULD be finishing the old ones, ... but i'm weak.

and, as i remind myself, "it's a hobby, for pleasure", i chose to not deny myself my pleasure.

i've been slowly knitting on my elm sock. it's knitted with the crystal palace panda cotton. i got this yarn at my friend's lys, and she had it on deep discount.

2 balls. yep. 2 balls ='s socks. well, usually.

that's where i ran out of ball #1. now, we can't "borrow from paul to pay peter", because then peter won't have nothing!

instead, i did what any (hopefully) well connected knitter would do, and went searching within ravelry.

i was able to connect with someone, who also belongs to my SKA group, who has 18 grams of leftovers of this same color & dyelot.  we've exchanged a few messages today!

so, i'm happy to report i will be able to finish these socks, without having to order more online (and wrong dyelot) or substitute with a different yarn.

Z O M B I E S ! ! !

it's not secret amongst certain friends that i love the tv show the walking dead.

not too long ago, i spotted this book at my local joann's store. i didn't get it. but when i was back in the store yesterday, and i had a 50% off coupon, i just couldn't resist anymore!

now, don't you think a zombie would be a swell christmas present?!

socken update

yep, still knitting socks, and desperately want to cast on a cardigan for the summer.

i know, ... sweater? summer? ... yes ... this cardigan from interweave knits. and i thought i might have a yarn in stash to use, but perhaps not. i might have to place an order.

but, back to socks.

i haven't made any progress on my stranded socks, but have made a bit of progress on my latest cookie a. sock.

though, the remaining ball of yarn is quite depleted. and, it might run out before the toe. if that does happen, i will likely find a place to order an extra ball (or 2) online. it sucks, but that's the way it is.

i also finished this pair! monkeys!!! (again) lol!

still, this is one of my favorite (mindless) sock patterns. it can make ANY yarn look good, and it's the perfect combination of mindless & interesting.

though, still today ... i craved a new cast on. thus, i cast on another beer cozy. this yarn is leftover from a pair i knitted for a friend a couple of years ago. it should only take about 17 grams.

oh good grief!

so, i am house sitting, and when i do that, i simply don't get other things done, as i'm out of my element. but, i am still knitting socks.

i have finished the first sock of a pair i've been wanting to make for awhile. this sock is knitted totally from leftovers. and yes, it really is this pretty in real life!

the pattern is called heart crook, and is from her book _more sensational knitted socks_.

it's not perfect, but close enough.

my next challenge will be to knit the mate. i haven't decided yet if i want my mate to match or not. i think i have enough yarn in the blue i used for the cuff/heel/toe to use it again, but maybe i'll switch up the order of colors in the rest of the design.

i had also cast on another colorwork sock, senta.

i love the way both of these socks look, but they're very time consuming for me. i'm so slow at colorwork. so, i did what any normal knitter would do ... cast on something else .....

i started this pattern (elm) by cookie a. i thought it would be easy, but it has me "chart chasing" a bit. UGH.
