knitting chicken

icarus has entered the phase of not so mindless knitting. i am very much enjoying the knitting still. if you are familiar with this shawl pattern (from the summer issue of interweave knits), i am on chart 3. if you are unfamiliar, i'm getting closer to the end!

though the knitting has slowed down, with the number of stitches spanning across each row, i still am making steady progress. i'm still knitting mistake free too. i had considered using a lifeline, but decided against that. i'd never used one before, and like the idea of knitting dangerously!

keep in mind, my next knitting post could be some humble whimpers or negative progress ...

so, when i'm in a situation that distracts me from counting my repeats, i knit on this instead ....

scarf on needles

my scarf is about 3.5' long now. it's simple seed stitch, with slip stitched edges. though it appears totally monotonous, it's not. it's actually quite a challenge, as i've been trying to teach myself to carry the yarn in my left hand. therefore, every stitch is a challenge, and i'm contantly trying to figure out another way to get the yarn around the needle, especially for the knit stitch.

and, what could be more satisfying than knitting up this wonderfully soft and pretty malabrigo?

yay for shawl progress! i think i will wait till you finish yours and then make one myself--you know--when you can then help me when i get stuck. :) what's a lifeline? to me, that just means people like you!

and i love the colors in your scarf! i have seen a few different examples of clapotises (how do you make that plural anyway?) made from malabrigo and have longed to touch it. it's looking just beautiful.

I love how the malabrigo is knitting up in seed stitch. And what a gorgeous color!

That malabrigio is beautiful. I'm jealous, even as I slog through my stash of lovely yarns. I can imagine that the seed stitch scarf is going to be very yummy stuff indeed!

I remember that scarf being a lot longer! Is it an aged pic or was there Rip-page? And Grey Gray Grey La Gran,of all people I thought YOU would be the last to make something wearable out of something that translates to what It does-- altho what's in a name anyhow? ;p

special note to our readers, ms. kittydevil has been suffering through endless hours of studying, classes, and tests this summer. she reports that these late nights, mixed with diet coke and chain smoking, has left her a little wacky. let's all send her some good knitting vibes !

ps. ms. kittydevil, i know a good rememdy for this unusual behavior, ... you must come over thursday pm to knit with your peeps!

Heh, living dangerously without a lifeline. Sounds like a good bio blurb. Hee hee.

May I ask what photo editing program you use to put the borders on your pics? I like that touch.

So Devil Kitty has gone back to school. Good for her! It may be sacraledge to say but the world does not revolve around yarn.

Take care,
Natashua

I love it.
I love seed stitch, though.
Especially with yummy yarn. My fav. is Colinette point 5.
One day soon, I promise, we'll in fact speak again in person. Well actually via phone + computer but you know.

the software program i use is called microsoft's "picture it, publish it!". it came with my gateway computer about 5 years ago. i'm sure they have an upgraded version out now, and probably under a different name.

Thank God for Grey LaGran and Thursday Knitting to keep DevilKitty sane (relatively) :)
If only we could get Natashua from the Chronicles of Yarnia to join us one night! ;)
