a knitting marathon ....

i was lured yesterday by the hospitality of some southern fried goodness, hosted by a most gracious knitter and kitchen extraordinaire, ms. jackie, and her rabbit-knitting hippie.

what's not to love when your sunday beverage color coordinates with your yarn?!

that's how much knitting i've completed as of late last night. in the harsh light of morning, pinning out my back section, i found that my ribbing is about an inch too deep. too bad. i'm NOT changing it.

i had made some progress on the two fronts, but had to stop working on those because i was confused whether the schematic included the ribbed borders or not. so, i figured i would just do the back and then knit the fronts to match ... which is how the pattern is written. sometimes i like to change things just to make life more difficult interesting.

how long did i knit yesterday? ... 12 shameless hours .... thanks jackie & hippie!

ps. the yarn is tahki's donegal tweed in colorway 880

Interesting? Why do you knit all of the pieces simulataneously?

it was indeed a fabulous day. and your sweater is looking fabulous all pinned out--you can really see how much progress you made! perhaps we should establish this as at least a monthly tradition, if not weekly. you're welcome anytime! :)

dear saunshine,

it was not my intention to knit so many pieces at once.

see, i had first cast on for the back, and knitted the ribbing, to discover i was knitting the wrong size. so, i moved on to a front, because i was not ready to revisit the back ... and then i moved onto the other front, because i was not ready to decided about when to start the armhole shaping. but then, i discovered that i didn't really understand the #'s in the schematic, so thought it would be better to work out the kinks of that by doing the back first ... as the pattern is written!

so, yes, i have been around my elbow ... so to speak ;)

You should call the the bloody cardigan, to reflect not only how it matches the bloody mary, but because it's giving you some trouble! Also, halloween tie-in...

Oh you know how I love red! I particularly like Donegal Tweed because it comes in so many different shades of red! I am SO going to enjoy my red cabled sweater.
